In Memoria

Up-Falling Rain

We who know
and have known
those feelings made heavy
by full hearts filling lungs,
lungs sighing open-mouthed
for breath,
We who have known
have known the pain of passing -
of souls nearer as no other,
of none ever closer to our blood -
reach across the mere illusion
of time and space separating friends
friends who carry each other's heart
within their own,
and wet their brimming sorrow
with our own.

Forever

Alas.  Nothing lasts 'forever'
but the loving of someone.  
The only time we have
is 'forever.'
 
'Forever' must surely be
moment-by-moment
-simply trying
to get to being alive.
